The San Jose Promise provides a “cost free” education, for up to two academic years, that includes tuition, books, Eco Pass (VTA Transportation), and health fee for qualifying students.
For students wishing to apply for the grant, they need only complete and commit to the following steps;
- Complete the BOG Fee Waiver BOG Waiver (English) BOG Waiver (Spanish)
- Enroll in and complete a minimum of 12 units each semester
- Complete and submit the online San Jose Promise application at; http://www.sjeccd.edu/home/san-jose-promise
- Earn and maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.5 each semester
- Enroll in and successfully complete math and English courses (in addition to courses within student’s education plan) each semester
- Enroll in and successfully complete a college readiness summer math course if needed
- Attend required appointments with a San José Promise counselor
- Attend required orientations, focus group meetings, writing and math workshops
- Participate in mentorship, internship, civic or community service opportunities
