The Young Placemakers (YP) is currently accepting applications!

Good morning ESUHSD

My friends at the City of San Jose PRNS wanted me to share with you this great opportunity for high school students in San Jose.

The Young Placemakers (YP) is currently accepting applications!

This opportunity will empower youth to identify neglected spaces within San José and implement their own placemaking “activation”. An “activation” is an event that is creatively organized with the intention of bringing public activity into a given space (i.e. a park, a street, a building, etc.). As a participant, you will learn more about the theories behind placemaking, learn about the process that goes into organizing activations, and gain professional skills (i.e. marketing, event production, and budget management) along the way.

There is no cost to participate in Young Placemakers. If requested, you may receive community service hours and letters of recommendation. Equal consideration will be given to all applicants who meet the requirements listed below. To apply to become a Young Placemaker, please complete the application and submit by January 31st, 2017 by 5:00 PM.
